The odontogram

Updated

The odontogram shows the patient's dental status, with what's to treat (red) and what's existing or done (blue).

Who can use it: professionals at the patient's clinic, on every plan. The clinic needs the Odontogram module on, in Settings → Booking Settings → Consultation modules. The rest of the team sees it read-only.

Record findings with the quick chart (40 seconds)

Quick chart

  1. In the chart, open the Odontogram tab.
  2. Select Quick chart.
  3. Choose To treat or Existing, and the finding, for example Caries or Filling. N more shows the rest.
  4. Select the surface of each tooth, or the whole tooth for crowns, missing teeth or implants. Select it again to remove the finding.

Detailed charting

  1. With Select, choose a tooth to open its panel.
  2. Choose the Condition / diagnosis (required), the Surface(s) (none means the whole tooth), the Treatment, the Status and Notes.
  3. Select Add finding. In the same panel you can edit, advance the status of, or delete a finding.

Good to know

  • By status / By condition changes the chart colors. Legend explains each symbol.
  • Primary teeth shows the deciduous teeth.
  • The Findings summary lists each tooth, surface, condition, treatment and status.
  • General notes are saved with Save notes.
  • Every change goes into the history and the day's clinical record (see Odontogram history and PDF).

Troubleshooting

Problem What to do
There's no Odontogram tab The module isn't on for this clinic.
"Read only" Only professionals at the patient's clinic can change it.
"This finding is already recorded on these surfaces. Edit it instead." Edit the existing finding instead of adding another.
